According to a police statement released yesterday, the man killed the Chinese woman and injured a French man with a long knife. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but the woman from Shandong Province died despite an attempt to rescue her.

An online video clip showed that the long-haired young woman lying on the road side, with blood pouring out of the wounds in her stomach. Her French partner stayed with her and the blood had stained his pants.

The video also showed the man with a knife, who was strolling outside the Uniqlo store, which was notoriously marred by a sex tape filmed in its fitting room. Parts of a damaged manikin were on the floor near him. Witnesses said he smashed a Uniqlo manikin after he stabbed the woman.

When police arrived, the man, identified by the police as a 25-year-old suspect surnamed Gao from Tonghua City in Jilin Province, threw the knife away and lay on the floor voluntarily and gave himself up. He was then taken away by the police.

The two victims were rushed to a nearby hospital. The heavily injured woman died at 1:00 p.m. and the man was treated for his wounds.

Police are investigating the case to try to uncover the man's motives for the killing.

The Beijing News reported that the woman named Gu Wenqing, a tattoo artist, had just married the French man on August 4.

Gu shared a photo taken with her new bridegroom on her Wechat moments account to her friends. On her Weibo account, she shared many of her tattoo designs, and wrote: "I will leave China in September!"

One of her friends said that the couple had planned to go to France next month before the tragedy took place.
