Dozens of people have fallen victims to a suspectedly wrongly cooked meal of stewed pork knuckles in a village in southwest China's Yunnan Province with six already killed, local government said today.

The food poisoning incident took place Tuesday evening in Binchuan County, Yunnan Province when a local villager invited friends and relatives to home to enjoy pork knuckles stewed with a plant called Cao Wu, or Kusnezoff Monkshood Root.
The plant contains toxic substances but when professionally processed, the plant could be used to produce herbal medicines.
The county officials said the villagers showed symptoms of food poisoning after eating the meal and were rushed to hospital. Six of them died later and 21 others were still being treated.
Officials said they were looking for other people who also attended the dinner and would check their condition. The local government had issued a warning asking villagers to stop using strange materials to cook food.
The incident is still being investigated.
