Local officials in a village in Shandong who are being detained in connection with the death of a villager have been cleared of arson and murder charges.

Investigators have confirmed 46-year old Zhang Jimin killed himself through self-immolation in protest of the forced demolition of his home.

However, the 15 officials are still under investigation in connection with the renovation projects in the community, which is on the outskirts of the city of Linyi.
