It was found occasionally by a fisherman in the Yangtze River Basin on November 15, 2014 when suffering from multiple injuries, and was immediately sent to Yangtze River Fisheries Research Institute for treatments.

Being in poor condition and having difficulties in feeding, the Chinese sturgeon was then transferred to Beijing Aquarium for further treatments.
