The sixth World Forum on China Studies kicked off in Shanghai on November 20, 2015.
Over 230 officials and scholars from more than 30 countries and regions attended the forum. The theme of this year's forum is "China's Reform, Opportunities for the World."
"Since China adopted the reform and opening-up policy over 30 years ago, China has been becoming more 'China' and more 'the world'. A reform-oriented and open China has provided 'Chinese Engine,' 'Chinese Innovation,' 'Chinese Option,' 'Chinese Wisdom' and 'Chinese Values' to the world," said Jiang Jianguo, minister of the State Council Information Office (SCIO), in his keynote speech.
Yang Xiong, mayor of Shanghai, delivered opening remarks. "The World Forum on China Studies, as a high-level, open and academic forum, is an important platform for China and the world to know each other," said Yang.
At the forum, the Award for Outstanding Contributions to China Studies was presented for a third time to prominent China scholars including David Lampton, director of China Studies at John Hopkins University.
The biennial World Forum on China Studies is co-sponsored by the SCIO and Shanghai Municipal Government and co-organized by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and the Shanghai Municipal Information Office.
