A 25-year-old Sichuan college graduate has turned her back on a high paid job in marketing to become a nun at a Taoist Temple.

According to the Sichuan-based newspaper Huaxi Metropolis Daily, Zhong Siyuan studied marketing at a local college and carried out an internship at a company. Although her bosses were satisfied with her performance and were willing to offer her a 5000 yuan a month salary, she decided she would rather become a nun at Yuhuang Temple in the mountainous Xuyong county.

After three years of study and cultivation, Zhong Siyuan has become the master of the Longmen school of Quanzhen Taoism in Luzhou city, southwest China's Sichuan province.

Zhong explained her fears that traditional Chinese culture was disappearing thanks science and technology, and that she hoped to carry forward traditional Chinese medical science, martial arts and calligraphy.

The college graduate has also been actively spreading knowledge of traditional Chinese culture online, encouraging lovers of traditional culture to visit and study at the Yuhuang Temple.
