China's first imported Chinese white dolphins, including a dolphin couple and three baby dolphins, settled in the special animal quarantine field in Hengqin's Chimelong on June 6, 2016 after they went through strict quarantine and inspection.

It's reported that they came to Zhuhai from Singapore by plane. The youngest baby will be two years old by the end of this August and the ‘hero' mother is over thirty years old now. Chinese white dolphins are among the country's grade one protected animals.

In order to ensure the smooth introduction of these Chinese white dolphins, the Hengqin Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has attached great importance to the development of a detailed regulatory plan and strictly checked the special animal quarantine field. Also, staff in Zhuhai's Chimelong successfully completed the procedures of epidemic prevention and disinfection, animal unloading, animal weighing, clinical examination and sample acquisition.

The construction of the special animal quarantine base is one of Hengqin's important steps in developing its tourism.
