Leading postdoctoral researchers, scholars and experts from across the country will gather in Hengqin New District of Zhuhai, Guangdong Province on Dec. 10 for the National Postdoctoral Academic Forum 2016, an occasion to share the latest academic achievements while exploring new applications.

The forum, commonly referred to as a grand gala of academia, is being held just one year after the postdoctoral work station was established in Hengqin, the first of its kind in a national free trade zone (FTZ). The station serves as a platform to attract more talents to contribute their innovative ideas for the development of Hengqin, besides creating a large talent pool for the FTZ.

Holding the national postdoctoral forum, as well as the establishment of the postdoctoral work station, reflects recognition from the national body on postdoctoral administration of the trend-setting way Hengqin is treating existing talents and seeking more.

With a theme of "New Type of Smart City and Global Outlook in the Era of Big Data," this year's forum will provide a platform for academic communication, strengthened exchanges and cooperation in the fields of big data, internet plus, smart city, smart FTZ and cloud computing. Together, such aspects will facilitate the construction and development of new types of smart cities.

This forum is jointly organized by the National Postdoctoral Administration Committee Office, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, Guangdong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, and jointly hosted by the Leading Group Office of Hengqin New District Postdoctoral Work Station and Zhuhai Da Hengqin Technology Development Co. Ltd. The Zhuhai Hengqin New District Management Committee provides additional support.

At the opening ceremony of the forum, a total of 18 postdoctoral researchers will receive awards for their outstanding dissertations submitted to the organizing committee. During the following three panel discussions, 15 postdoctoral researchers will deliver prepared speeches on three topics: Big data, Smart City, Network and Intelligent Recognition.
