Title: Dual Track Approach for Building the Belt and Road: Economic Integration and Cultural Exchanges

Abstract:

Symbolizing Chinese people’s exploring the world, the ancient Silk Road witnessed prosperity and decline of dynasties in China. We should learn a lesson from its history and redefine the new one. First, the Silk Road is about trade. The ancient Silk Road was a global trade corridor and was considered a prototype of economic globalization. Second, Silk Road is about openness. The ancient Silk Road was very busy during the dynasties of the Han, the Tang, the Song, and the Yuan. The then China was most open, inclusive, and confident. Third, the Silk Road is about peace. Peace is a premise for the Silk Road, and the Silk Road is a peace messenger. Fourth, the Silk Road is about civilization. As a “grand canal” in the history of world civilization, the Silk Road connected the splendid civilizations in ancient times.
