Title: Pass Down the Tradition of Cultural Exchanges Through Implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative

Abstract:

Mutual learning among different civilizations is the most precious legacy of the ancient silk roads. These land and sea routes were the first passages linking the East and the West, facilitating the broad dissemination of science and technology. In addition to being a milestone in economic and trading exchanges, the silk roads were also incubators for the dramatic changes that later occurred in human society and production modes. A primary channel for early cultural exchanges and continuous cross-civilization dialogue, the silk roads have witnessed the development of countries and peoples along them, and preserved a memory for all humankind.

In drawing on the essence of the ancient silk roads and inheriting its cultural spirit, today’s Belt and Road Initiative aims to build a community of common destiny characterized by mutual benefits and win-win results. Cultural exchanges are at the core of sustainable development of these routes in the present day, and play a fundamental role in enhancing friendship among countries along them. Cooperation based on mutual learning among different civilizations is the best of all by virtue of being more stable and durable.
