Title: Take the Initiative and Strive to Be a Pioneer – Making Every Effort to Promote Oil and Gas Cooperation Along the Belt and Road

Abstract:

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has proactively participated in the Belt and Road Initiative. CNPC currently manages 49 large and medium-sized oil and gas cooperative projects in 19 countries along the Belt and Road, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Iran, Indonesia, and Singapore. Having established eight strategic oil and gas channels across China's northwest, northeast, and southwest, CNPC has undoubtedly gained kudos as the trailblazer of construction of the Belt and Road. During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) period and beyond, CNPC will stick to the principles of efficiency, advantageous exploitation, mutual benefit, openness, inclusiveness, market-based and law-abiding operations, as well as innovation-driven and sustainable development. The aim is to build Central Asia and Russia into a core oil and gas cooperation zone along the Belt and Road. Furthermore, it would go all out to transform the Middle East into the largest, best coordinated and most competitive coordination zone, and thus to make the Asian-Pacific region a cooperative natural gas and LNG supply zone as it continues to enact the role of vanguard and main constructor of the Belt and Road Initiative.
