Title: What Is the Asian Super Grid (ASG)? Why ASG? And How It Could Change the World?

Abstract:

Why SoftBank, one of the leading Japanese telecommunication and technology companies in Japan, decided to enter the energy business in 2011? What’s the very original motivation to do so? This paper briefly explain what SoftBank has done so far in Japan, Mongolia and India in the renewable energy front.

This paper will introduce the 4-company MOU by SoftBank (Japan), SGCC (China), KEPCO (Korea) and Rosseti (Russia) to study and develop the ASG project and update its progress.

This paper tells us what the ASG is, why it is required, what issues exist, and most importantly, what the ASG could bring to our society. ASG, which is the Grid-Of- Things (GOT), could bring a huge, positive impact in the infrastructure interconnection of countries along the Belt and Road and the world in line with the development of the artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet-of-Things (IOT).
