Beijing has begun to provide “Beijing VI” standard gasoline from Mar.1 on, in an attempt to decrease exhaust gas emissions and improve the capital’s air quality.
Sinopec announced that it has already completed the replacement of its stocks with VI standard gasoline in their 562 gas stations in Beijing.
The new gasoline will be produced by Sinopec’s Yanshan Petrochemical, Cangzhou Refining and Chemical and Qilu Petrochemical.
Yanshan Petrochemical can produce 250,000 tons of VI standard gasoline per month, accounting for 75 percent of the total amount consumed by Beijing.
The cleaner gasoline represents the sixth stage of gasoline quality approved by Beijing Municipal Administration of Quality and Technology Supervision on Oct. 20, 2016.
Under the “Beijing VI” standard, the particulate emission of gasoline vehicles will be reduced by 10 percent, and non-methane organic gas and nitrogen oxide will be cut by 8 to 12 percent.
