Twelve people died and another 19 were injured in central China's Hunan Province Monday after their truck overturned, local authorities said.

The accident happened at about 5:50 p.m. as the truck owned by a landscaping company was on the way back after the workers finished their tree planting work in Chenzhou City, the city's publicity department said.

Eleven workers died at the scene and one died later at hospital. The injured have been rushed to hospitals nearby.

The legal representative of the landscaping company and the truck driver have been held by police.

The accident is under investigation.
