Beijing’s Haidian District and the Energy Commission of the state of California of the United States announced the establishment of Beijing-California Innovation Center in Beijing recently. As California’s first platform focusing on innovation service in Beijing, the center aims at facilitating the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and promoting the communication and exchange of sci-tech professionals and service between California and Zhongguancun in industries such as energy, environmental protection, new materials, artificial intelligence and so on.

The center will set its service office in Zhongguancun International Innovation Building to provide California projects with venues for work, negotiations, meetings and roadshows. The best-known organizations providing incubation and innovation service in Zhongguancun and the Silicon Valley co-established the China-US Innovation Service Alliance to support the innovation in both Beijing and California. The center will offer a one-stop service for technical exchange and cooperation in Beijing and California under a scheme of "office venues + enterprise consultation + special fund."

In addition, the Energy Commission of California has established a clean technology fund, which is worth approximately US$1 billion, together with Tsinghua University and core enterprises of Zhongguancun. The fundraising is expected to be completed by 2018, and the fund will be invested in qualified projects to develop clean technology in Beijing and California.

The establishment of the California-Beijing innovation center in Zhongguancun will boost the communication and exchange of innovation resources in Zhongguancun and the Silicon Valley.
