China is now building a national park for wild pandas to protect the connectivity of different panda habitats, according to the 17th International Botanical Congress in China's Shenzhen City.

The national park will be included inside the provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu, covering more than 27,000 square kilometers, which would be three times the area of Yellowstone National Park in the United States.

This means around 170,000 people in Sichuan will have to be moved out of the region to establish the core protection area.

There are thought to be around 1,800 wild pandas still living in the wild in China.

Around two-thirds of the wild pandas are living in the 67 nature reserves that have been established in China for the protection of the pandas.

There are currently 375 pandas living in 11 breeding centers throughout China.
