The Chinese Dream is the inevitable result of a collision between Chinese history and the history of the world at large. Here, the world history indicates not the history in textbooks, but a concept of Karl Marx’s historical materialism. China endured prolonged suffering, especially from invasions by foreign powers in the modern era, which laid the historical foundation for the Chinese Dream. The Chinese Dream will show the world (modernized by the West) a nation that had suffered from bullying and oppression will inevitably achieve rejuvenation. Rather than chastising the U.K. or the West at large for bandit behavior, China has merged onto a modern road arranged by “world history”. China’s modernization is destined to merge with global modernization and as a very special piece, because the starting point of China’s modernization starkly contrasts that of the West. China’s modernization drive cannot simply ape the modernization of the West. The road of China’s modernization requires adapting Marxism to China’s reality. The ongoing Chinese Dream will make contribution to the world by putting an end to the world’s most unequal national relationships and laying the foundation for equality between various nations and cultures. Moreover, the Chinese Dream is one of a peaceful rise, which will foster peace and development for the entire planet.
