Abstract

The Chinese dream is not just the dream of the Chinese nation, nor the dream of the individuals. It is not only the dream of the Chinese nation and its people, but the dream of other nations and everyone in the word, because it represents the aspirations of a nation for development, civilization, prosperity, strength, peace and harmony. I have been working hard to achieve my Chinese dream for 30 years. My Chinese dream started at the first day of my Chinese class. It was in 1978 when I started to learn Chinese at the sinology department of Ankara University in Turkey. I was deeply attracted by the China's ancient civilization and its profound history as well as the beauty of the Chinese language. In 1982, I came to China as one of the first government sponsored students. Since then I have been living in China and I settled in Shanghai in 1995. The life and work in Shanghai has provided me with brighter career prospects, bigger platforms and more opportunities to know more people from all social ladders, and I have been quickly mainstreamed into the society of Shanghai.

As an ordinary person from a developing country, I think I am very lucky to live in this fastest-growing country and witness its ever-growing development and progress each day. China has achieved its development goals of every stage, which makes itself a land of opportunity for the Chinese people and foreigners like me. Thanks to its rapid development, China is enjoying a rising global influence in politics, economy and culture, and its foreign relations are also developing fast. China is realizing its dreams of every stage, so am I. My Chinese dream has made it possible for me to have a close contact with both Turkish and Chinese leaders in the past 30 years.
