The achievements made by China's economic development and reform will be fully devoted to improving the standard of people's lives. The comment was delivered at a CPPCC Press Conference in Beijing. Expanding domestic demand and accelerating the transformation of China's economic growth pattern are the major tasks during the twelfth five-year program.
Several CPPCC members who are experts in economy attended the press conference at the Great Hall of the People, sharing their opinions on China's economic development.
They may have different ideas, but they all agree that the most urgent job is to accelerate the transformation of China's economic growth pattern, to better serve the country's long-term and balanced development.
One CPPCC member criticized the blind pursuit of development based on over-consuming energy, calling it unsustainable. He pointed out that although the necessary conditions for advancing the transformation are mature, lots of problems exist.
Li Deshui, CPPCC Member, said, "Our current economic standard, powerful financial resources, infrastructure construction and industrialization are different from the previous years. So it is the right time to accelerate the transformation. But we are also facing a lot of challenges, such as income distribution, inflation and imbalances and unsustainable development."
Members said the focus must be on scientific development, advancing the country's innovation capability. And they believe one way to expand domestic demand is to optimize income distribution system. They believe the target areas of these attempts are the rural areas. And developing the service industry, continuing to develop urbanization with Chinese characteristics, and adjusting the market economic order are also crucial.
