China will strengthen and make innovation in social administration to resolve various social conflicts that come along with the nation's fast economic development, Premiere Wen Jiabao said in his government work report on Monday. [Highlights of government work report]

"We will work hard to resolve social conflicts, make innovations in social administration, and enforce the law impartially and with integrity," Wen said at the annual session of the 11th National People's Congress.

Social administration involves a wide spectrum of people's daily lives that test the government's ruling capability.

"We will strengthen government functions for conducting social administration and providing public services," said the premier.

Wen said the government will strengthen the self-governing capacities of community-level organizations.

He said the government would carry forward the reform of the household registration system, implement the residence permit system, and provide better services to the floating population.

Wen also said the government will "strengthen and improve management of the Internet and foster a healthy cyberspace environment."

At the end of 2011, several Chinese metropolises like Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen initiated a real-name registration rule for the country's microblog operators, demanding users to register in real names.

The move is considered by many to tighten supervision over the Internet to purify the online environment and enhance social credibility.
