A senior official on Monday called for efforts to handle proposals submitted by political advisors "more efficiently."
Wang Gang, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's political advisory body, made the remarks at a meeting discussing 6,242 proposals made by CPPCC National Committee members at the "two sessions" concluded last week.
After the meeting, these proposals will be handed to various government departments to deal with, and each proposal will get an official response.
Proposals submitted by political advisors have played an important role in "dealing with the international financial crisis, maintaining a stable and relatively fast economic development, and promoting social harmony and stability," according to Wang.
Political advisors' proposals have crystallized public will and are a "condensation of their wisdom and sweat," Wang said, adding that proposals must be treated seriously and replied to formally, so as to embody advisors' political participation in economic and social development.
