Zhu Liangyu undertakes research in a Haidian community.

"Although this is my first time as a delegate at the National People's Congress, I won't be a vase one. At this excellent platform, I will speak out on behalf of my colleagues," Zhu Liangyu, assistant manager of Beijing Security Service General Company Haidian branch said.

Zhu hails from Heze City in Shandong Province. He took up a security job at the age of 21 and stayed there for 20 years. Although he has grown into a manager, he still lives in a basement.

In the second half of last year, he did four months worth of research on the security industry. At this year's Two Sessions, he will propose several suggestions to solve the difficulties this particular social group has to face every day.

He said the group now faces several difficulties. Firstly, due to a low income, fewer and fewer young men will want to do this job. Secondly, accommodation is bad. As the rent is high, 80 percent of Beijing security staff lives in the basement. Third, the industry's malignant competition sometimes causes poor security quality. Finally, their children face serious problems in regards to their education.
