China's top legislature will continue to review the environmental protection law draft amendment and plan for laws on water and soil pollution prevention and control, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
China's top legislature had second and third readings of the environmental protection law draft amendment last year but was yet to vote, said Fu Ying, spokeswoman for the second session of the 12th National People's Congress, at a press conference.
"Normally a law will be voted after three readings," said Fu.
"The added review would better absorb social intelligence and reflect the public concern and we hope we can enact a high-quality and effective environmental protection law," she said.
The laws on water and soil pollution prevention and control are already on plan agenda, she said.
Fu said the top legislature will start enforcement examination of the law on air pollution control this year and consider revising it.
