Sao Paulo coach Ney Franco says Real Madrid loanee Casemiro is on track to secure a permanent move to the Spanish giants.
Casemiro, who arrived at the Bernabeu from Sao Paulo during the January transfer window, made his first-team debut for Jose Mourinho's team in a 3-1 victory over Real Betis in La Liga on April 20.
The midfielder's loan deal is due to expire in June but Franco believes Real Madrid could exercise their option of buying the 21-year-old.
"I am really hoping that he stays at Real Madrid. He has enormous potential to do well in European football," Franco said.
"I have told him many times that he has what it takes to play for Brazil's national team. He only needs to correct some minor details and he is already on the way to doing that."
Despite impressing during a full 90 minutes against Betis, Casemiro did not feature in Real Madrid's 4-1 Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday or the side's 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Saturday.
"If for some reason he came back he would be welcomed with open arms and would have opportunities. But it would be in his best interests to stay and the information we have is that Real Madrid want that to happen." Endi
