Although Veronika Orlova of Uzbekistan gets more confidence from recent international success, she is still nervous about the coming women's artistic gymnastics competitions at the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

"I have been trying for a long time," Orlova said, "Every day, it's training, training and more training. We are aiming for the best."

Orlova earned her berth to Nanjing 2014 at the junior Asian championships, which served as the Asian qualifying event for the Games, held in her hometown of Tashkent in April. There, she placed 12th all-around and fifth on vault. Orlova also helped Uzbekistan win the bronze medal in the team competition.

The bronze medal on vault at the Rusiko Sikharulidze Tournament in Batumi, Georgia last month helped build her confidence.

The fifteen-year-old girl said she was most certain she could produce solid scores on floor exercise, vault and balance beam in Nanjing.

Taking Aliya Mustafina as her idol, Orlova wishes to become the winner of YOG Nanjing.

"Of course I am nervous," Orlova said, "But I have competed in other international events, so I am more experienced. My goal is to win medals." Endit
