China's Ministry of Commerce said Friday that it will impose provisional anti-dumping measures on methyl methacrylate (MMA) imported from Singapore, Thailand and Japan.
The preliminary ruling requires importers of the product to place deposits with Chinese customs ranging from 6.8 percent to 34.6 percent of the imports starting from Aug. 1, 2015, depending on the dumping margin, according to a statement on the ministry's website.
The ministry said companies from the above-mentioned countries had dumped the chemical into the Chinese market and such imports caused substantial damage to the domestic industry.
The ministry launched an anti-dumping probe into imported MMA from the three countries in August 2014.
MMA is an organic compound that can be used to produce organic glass, plastic, paint and adhesives. Endi
