Chinese CSL side Shandong sacks coach Cuca

Chinese Super League (CSL) side Shandong Luneng on Sunday sacked head coach Cuca of Brazil.

   "Cuca will not be the coach of the club from now on," Shandong confirmed in a statement. 

   Cuca, nicknamed Alexi Stival, joined Shandong under a 3-year deal at the end of 2013. The statement did not mention the compensation for the early termination of the contract.

   The Brazilian steered the team to take one FA cup and one Super Cup, but Shandong failed to take any CSL title, and stopped twice at group stage of the Asian Champions League (ACL) in 2014 and 2015.

   Due to a clash between Cuca and linesman Zhan Wei after a league match, Cuca got a ban off the pitch for seven months starting from June 6, 2015, and was fined 140,000 RMB (about 22,500 U.S. dollars), which led to his absence from the bench for the rest of the season.

   The four times CSL champions finished third last season and secured a place to play the ACL playoffs next season.  Endi
