Macao media Sunday paid particular attention to the neighboring
Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) which is
celebrating the 10th anniversary of its return to the
motherland.
Macao Daily News, the leading local Chinese-language
newspaper, said in its editorial that Hong Kong has shrugged off
all vexing predictions made 10 years ago when it returned to the
motherland.
The successful implementation of "one country, two systems"
boasts a miracle in the history of human civilization, said the
editorial.
Jornal Va Kio, another major Chinese-language
newspaper, in a column article also praised the achievements Hong
Kong has made since its return to China on July 1, 1997.
The doom-telling of "Hong Kong's death" after return has been
proved wrong, the newspaper quoted a Time magazine article as
saying.
Tai Chung Pou, also local Chinese-language newspaper,
said in a commentary that Hong Kong's international standing as a
financial, trade and shipping center has been more solid since its
return to the motherland.
Other newspapers in Macao all dedicated pages to top stories and
photos on Hong Kong's return anniversary on Sunday.
