Zhao Leji, born in March 1957, is a male ethnic Han from Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. He entered the workforce in September 1974 and joined the CPC in July 1975. He received a postgraduate education at the Central Party School.

He is currently a member of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Congress.

On Nov. 19, 2012, the CPC Central Committee has appointed Zhao Leji as head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, replacing Li Yuanchao.

Zhao will no longer hold the post as secretary of CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee.
