A fisherman alerted experts who rescued a newborn baby seal, a species on the State's list of protected animals, from a beach in Dalian, Liaoning Province, Dalian Evening News reported.
As he prepared for work on Saturday morning on the beach, Wang saw the animal and called in experts from the rescue center. The animal was just under three weeks old and was still in the suckling period as Dalian is a major breeding place for seals.
Many seals have been rescued from that area in the past, residents said.
