A man in Nanyang, Henan Province, has made a cloth puppet and hung it beside a protruding tree stump to beware pedestrians after his mother tripped on it on Monday.

Xu Wei's mother, 64, fractured her leg after she tripped on the 8-cm-high stump, which was left alongside the city's busy Renmin Road after gardeners chopped off the tree last week.

Xu said he would not remove the puppet from the spot until authorities remove the stump.
