Police in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region seized
nearly 1,400 kg of drugs and arrested five suspected drug
traffickers in early November, sources said Sunday.
The police in Bayannaoer City, western Inner Mongolia, had been
tracking a gang making, selling and trafficking drugs since June
this year during a major anti-drug smuggling campaign. The gang was
smashed on Nov. 8.
The police caught five suspects while there were conducting drug
dealing in Baotou City, a neighboring city of Bayannaoer, seizing
1,125 kg of caffeine, 246 kg sodium-benzoate powder and tablets,
and five kg of poppyseed.
An investigation into the case is underway.
