Gansu police have caught a man suspected of raping more than 20
women and girls and handed him over to authorities in Hebei
Province, where the crimes happened, the New Express Daily
reported today.
Police arrested suspect Jiang Yongsheng on November 11 as they
checked vehicles driving through the highway toll station in
Yongdeng County.
The 41-year-old suspect was involved in more than 20 rapes in
Xingtai City of Hebei in recent years, police allege.
Xiangtai police targeted Jiang after conducting DNA tests and he
was then listed as one of the country's most wanted suspect by the
Ministry of Public Security, the report said.
On November 8, Xingtai police were tipped off that the suspect
had fled the city for Gansu to avoid a citywide manhunt.
Gansu police then waited for Jiang at the toll station after
hearing that he may head to Lanzhou City from Dunhuang City on
November 10, the report said.
Jiang will face trial in Hebei, the report said.
