Megabite Hong Kong Ltd announced Saturday the opening of its second food court, Food Republic Citygate, in Tung Chung of Lantau Island.

The Food Republic Citygate is composed of 18 food stalls and four mini restaurants. With 770 seats in total, Food Republic Citygate aims to offer an exceptional experience for diners by providing a wide variety of Southeast Asian cuisine.

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Charles Ng, welcomed the company's expansion in Hong Kong. "Hong Kong's appetite for high quality food from around the world has formed part of our cosmopolitan culture. Locating at the heart of Lantau Island close to our award-winning airport, AsiaWorld-Expo and outstanding tourist attractions like Hong Kong Disneyland and the Ngong Ping 360 cable car should help form the basis of success for Food Republic Citygate," said he.

Managing Director of Megabite Hong Kong Ltd Jenson Ong said, "Hong Kong is renowned as a dining paradise. With the success of Food Republic in Taikoo Shing, we are confident about further expanding our business in Hong Kong. More of our food courts will be opened this year and Hong Kong will definitely be a vital location in our business development."

Megabite Hong Kong Ltd, a subsidiary of Singaporean-listed BreadTalk Group, operates and manages Food Republic in Singapore, Malaysia, and China's Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing and Nantong.
