Adjust font size:

Thirty people were injured when eight vehicles slammed into each other on a highway in the west of Hong Kong on Thursday morning, local media reported.

The accidents occurred around 9:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT) at Tuenmun Road in the New Territories. One bus, one station wagon, four heavy trucks and two trailers were involved in the chain- reaction collision.

The rush-hour pileup caused major traffic delays throughout the morning.

The driver of the station wagon was seriously injured in the crash. Most of the people injured had been sent to hospital.

The reason of the accident was still under investigation.
