4 killed in S. China's building collapse

Four workers died and three were injured in a building collapse in south China's Guangdong Province, local source said in Guangzhou on Wednesday.

Four of the seven construction workers working in the three-storey Changhe Automobile Sales Center which was under construction, died when a 26-square-meter elevator shaft collapsed at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a Guangzhou municipal government official said on Wednesday.

Three workers were rescued around midnight and rushed to hospital. They are out of danger on Wednesday. Another four were found dead at 9:30 a.m., underneath collapsed scaffolds and debris, he said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
