Death toll in fireworks factory blast rises to 5

The death toll from Saturday's fireworks factory blast in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has risen to five, local government sources said on Monday.

The fifth victim was identified as a 61-year old man, while the other four were confirmed as a middle-aged couple and a woman and a man, both in their 50s, the sources said

The blast occurred at 7:44 a.m. Saturday in a fireworks plant in Liujing Town, Beiliu City.

The five dead were all installing powder fuses when the blast happened. A nearby worker was slightly injured. More than ten workshop rooms were destroyed.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
