8 die in truck-bus collision in Qinghai

Eight people, mostly tourists, have died in a truck-bus collision in northwest China's Qinghai Province in the wee hours on Thursday, according to local government.

A bus from Golmud collided with a truck in Ulan County of the Haixi Autonomous Prefecture of Mongolian and Tibetan nationalities. A dozen of passengers on board the bus were injured in the mishap, according to the prefecture's publicity office.

The injured were hospitalized and they were in stable conditions, said an official with the office.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident and affirming the identity of the dead.
