A man and woman, both Chinese nationals, were found dead in an apartment in the northern UK city of Newcastle on the afternoon of Saturday, August 9. The bodies were discovered in separate bedrooms in the apartment. Both had suffered serious head injuries. The deceased are believed to have been students.
A member of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association told reporters that in the past Chinese students in the area had been attacked by local youths.
Another student said the murdered man was aged about 30. He added that he had seen him once, driving a red sports car.
Police said post-mortem examinations would be held to establish the exact cause of death. A police spokesman said investigations were continuing to establish the identities of the victims and the circumstances of their death.
