An unidentified man attempted suicide this morning by jumping off the platform at the Dongchang Road Station of Metro Line 2, the Metro authority said.

The man received serious head injuries and is being treated at local East Hospital in Pudong New Area.

According to eastday.com, the man did have any identification on him.

"It was around 9 AM. A man with his face covered in blood was carried out on a stretcher," an urban administrative officer told the Website.

A metro passenger identifying herself as Winnie said Metro Line 2 trains did not resume until 20 minutes later. "However the train did not stop at Nanjing Road E. Station, Nanjing Road W. Station or Jing'an Temple Station. That's why I was late for work."
