The final verdict on the infamous Chinese cop killer Yang Jia is to be announced at a third trial in Shanghai on Monday, Chinanews.com reported, quoting Yang's attorney.
The trial is scheduled to open at 9:30 am at the Shanghai High People's Court and Yang's father and aunt have been allowed to attend the trial, the report said.
In an interview with Shanghai-based website Xinmin.cn, Yang's lawyer Zhai Jian said the court is likely to sustain the original judgment.
The Beijing-native raided a police branch in Zhabei District in Shanghai on July 1, stabbing sixth police officers to death and leaving other three officers and a police-assistant injured.
Yang lodged an appeal after he was sentenced to death penalty by the Shanghai Second Intermediate People's Court for intentional killing at the first instance on September 1.
At a retrial on October 13, the court refused a request by Yang's lawyer for a retest on Yang's mental status at the time of offense and announced the final judgment will be unveiled at another time.
