Adjust font size:

A former provincial official in east China's Fujian Province was dismissed from his national lawmaker membership on Tuesday for allegedly taking bribes.

Chen Shaoyong, former secretary-general of the Fujian provincial committee of the Communist Party of China, was suspected of "seriously violating discipline and law and taking a huge sum of bribes", according to a Tuesday's decision by the standing committee of the Fujian provincial legislature.

The standing committee would also report the decision to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature.

Chen's membership as a provincial lawmaker had also been dismissed.

Details about Chen's corruption were currently unavailable.
