Residential building fire kills 5 in E. China

A fire killed five people in a residential building in the eastern Chinese city of Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province early on Monday.

Wenzhou Fire Brigade was called at 5:52 a.m. to a fire in two apartments on the second floor of a five-story building in the city's Longwan District, said Wu Jian, brigade head.

Firemen put out the fire at about 6:50 a.m. and found five bodies in the debris, Wu said.

An investigation was underway he said.
