China's national quality regulator said Wednesday it was testing the safety of an additive in the premium milk brand of the leading dairy producer, Mengniu Diary.
Results would be publicly released "in appropriate ways," said a statement on the website of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
The agency said the additive was osteoblast milk protein.
Mengniu has said tests of its products found them to be safe.
