He Zhifei, 22, and Chen Huiyuan, 20, won the competition for the "best job in China" on June 16. The two young women, from Guangdong Province and Henan Province, respectively, will serve as "Lavender Angels" in the Panlongxia, an ecological tourism area in Guangdong, earning a handsome salary of 20,000 yuan (US$2,941) per week.

After several rounds of intense competition, two female university students received the high-paying jobs offered by a large lavender garden in the Panlongxia ecological tourism area in Guangdong Province on June 16.

After several rounds of intense competition, two female university students received the high-paying jobs offered by a large lavender garden in the Panlongxia ecological tourism area in Guangdong Province on June 16.

The two special gardeners, employed by Panlongxia, will start their work in July and will work during two months of summer vacation. They will also be required to work during other peak traveling periods, such as the National Day holiday and Spring Festival. Their mission will include observing and recording the growth of lavender, patrolling the lavender fields, guiding visitors and promoting the garden via the Internet and TV shows.

The final contest on June 16 consisted of three parts: a personal statement, answering questions and a talent show. In the questioning session, contestants answered questions raised by famous Hong Kong TV host Hong Tianming.

Hong asked the contestants a range of questions, from how to promote the image of the Panlongxia lavender garden to how to protect the environment. The talent show also included a range of topics, with contestants impressing the audience with their singing, dancing, poetry, reading, drawing and calligraphy.

"This week's selection campaign has allowed me to re-evaluate our post-'80 and post-'90 generation, with every contestant giving a splendid account of herself," said Zou Yongcui, professor from Xinghai Conservatory of Music and judge of the campaign.
