According to the China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Centre (CIIRC), Google.cn has recently been reported for spreading pornographic or obscene content. The accusation was confirmed in a statement on the CIIRC website Thursday.
This is the third time that Google China has been accused of hosting and providing pornographic links on its website. In January and again in April, the CIIRC, an organization under the China Internet Information Service Commission, announced the relevant information to the Chinese public.
The CIIRC's statement says that Google.cn failed to clean its site after the notifications in both January and May, and still contains large quantities of obscene and pornographic information, including porn pictures, videos and texts. Google.cn has thereby violated the relevant laws and regulations concerning internet security in China.
The CIIRC expressed its condemnation of Google China and has called for immediate and thorough measures to remove the illegal content from the website. The CIIRC also proposed that the relevant law enforcement authorities impose sanctions on the search engine.
