Beijing police said Sunday they detained an alleged human trafficker from Taiwan as she attempted to leave the mainland from the Beijing Capital International Airport.

The 56-year-old female confessed to organizing an unspecified number of stowaways from the mainland to Europe since February, the Beijing Public Security Bureau said.

She was detained by Beijing police Thursday.

According to police, the woman confessed to making several thousand U.S. dollars in profit from the trafficking activity.

Further investigation into the case is being carried out.
