Ramp bridge collapse kills 6, injures 4 in N. China
Adjust font size:

Six people were confirmed dead and four others were injured when a ramp bridge linking to a north China expressway collapsed early Wednesday, the local government said.

Five trucks fell off the ramp bridge, about 800 meters from a toll station near Tianjin port, when the accident happened at 1:33 a.m, a city government spokesman said.

He did not identify the victims.

The accident has closed down the Tianjin section of the pivotal expressway linking to the northern Shanxi Province and caused congestions in the downtown areas.

As of 10 a.m., Xinhua reporters were still unable to reach the site.
