Typhoon Morakot has killed at least 126 people and left 61 missing in Taiwan as of 8 a.m. Monday, according to local disaster response authorities.
Another 45 people were injured after the typhoon, the worst on the island in nearly five decades, wreaking havoc across central and southern regions.
The authorities said these figure did not include villagers in Kaohsiung who had lost contact.
The death toll remained at 124 and 56 people were missing as of Saturday evening.
Morakot has caused nearly 12.28 billion New Taiwan Dollars (372 million US dollars) in damages to agriculture and civilian facilities, 9.63 billion New Taiwan Dollars of which were that of agricultural products as of 9 a.m. Monday.
