China's State Disaster Relief Commission Monday issued an alert for the tropical storm Koppu, which might land in southeast Fujian Province between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
The commission sent the alert to more than six provinces and autonomous regions that might be affected by the storm such as Guangdong, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Guangxi.
It ordered local civil affairs bureaus to dispatch disaster relief teams to regions that might be hit by Koppu.
It also asked these bureaux to make good preparations for disaster prevention and relocation work, to check carefully low-lying areas liable to waterlogging and some old and dangerous houses, and to transfer people in danger areas.
The commission asked the local civil affairs bureaux to work around the clock to report information on the disaster effect and relief work.
